One of the more important things that a new dad can do these first days is to learn some 'baby basics' to care for a newborn baby. You will feel much more comfortable taking your baby home if you know how to feed, change, pick up, and swaddle your baby.
You will also feel better if you know how to recognize early health problems, including knowing if your baby is getting enough breastmilk, is gaining weight well, or if he has become jaundiced.
These first few days are also an important time to prepare siblings for the new baby and learning how to be supportive of a new mom.
